About Wendy

My name is Wendy Crane and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice specializing in individual and couples therapy as well as hypnotherapy.  I also offer virtual yoga and meditation experiences on this site to enhance your self-understanding. I have been counseling individuals, couples, and families for over 20 years, although informally I would say that I have been counseling people allimg_4934 of my life! This profession truly chose me. I graduated from the University of Florida in 1999, specializing in marriage and family therapy, and have worked in a variety of settings with a broad spectrum of clients.

As a therapist, I am interactive and collaborative. My therapeutic approach includes providing support and practical feedback to help you effectively address personal life challenges. With compassion and understanding, I work with you to help build on your strengths, discover and express your personal truth, and empower you to attain the growth you desire. I want you to know that I would never ask you to participate in something that I have not already done myself. One aspect of me that you will come to understand quickly is that I practice what I preach. I come into every encounter with you from a genuine, honest place. We will laugh, cry, and ponder at the mysteries of life and how you might best navigate your way through. In spite of all of my training, I never claim to have all the answers; I am a lifelong student and I am always learning. I am a very spiritual person and bring an expanded viewpoint on faith to the time we spend together.

In addition to being a woman in our society and a spiritual seeker, my life experiences add to my ability to relate to the many different stories that you may share with me in therapy. Some of those experiences include: being married for 14 years, going through a divorce, raising a son, dating in midlife, being single for several years, creating a fulfilling and sustainable life after divorce, discovering conscious, healthy love in a second marriage and blending a family, and dealing with addiction and recovery within my family of origin. Life continues to evolve and I continue to be curious about the opportunities for growth and awareness that are presented for my learning.

My counseling specialties focus on relationships: 1) marriage and relationship counseling, when you want to strengthen and/or heal a committed relationship; 2) divorce recovery/rebuilding to help you end a relationship in a healthy way that serves the highest good of all parties and rebuild a new life beyond divorce; and 3) codependency recovery, which focuses on breaking old toxic relationship patterns and empowering you to create healthy boundaries, speak your Truth, and navigate your way towards more fulfilling and conscious relationships. Whatever path you choose, along the way you will focus on what you truly want, get down to the source of the beliefs that are blocking your success, and create a clear vision for your path forward.

Within these specialties, there is definitely room for individual counseling. As a marriage and family therapist by trade, I always see you in the context of relationships (from your family of origin influence, to past and present relationships with partners, friends, and children and even the relationship that you have with your Self).

Balancing life experience with clinical training has always been important to me. In 2009, I embarked on a journey deeper into the unconscious mind when I began training in hypnotherapy with the Wellness Institute.  I had become frustrated with the limitations inherent in talk-therapy alone and I yearned to add something more so that I could help you to release emotional blocks that might be keeping you stuck. This new learning has truly changed the way I do therapy on all levels in my practice.  If you get me talking about it, you will see my passion shine through. I love this work! I look forward to sharing it with you in whatever form you might connect with.

As I continued to learn and evolve throughout my career, I was inspired to create Sol Flower Wellness in 2012 as a way to expand my approach to private practice and combine my training in yoga and meditation with my psychological expertise. In 2013, I earned my 200-hour Kripalu Yoga Teacher Certification. The combination of yoga and hypnotherapy training I have received have enhanced my understanding of the mind/body relationship.  My personal journey with yoga and meditation further confirm that understanding in addition to helping me heal from my divorce and live a more present-focused life. I now teach tools and provide resources to enhance and strengthen your relationship with yourself. Providing a holistic integrated experience for my clients has been a lifelong goal of mine.

I believe that every personal and professional experience I have encountered thus far (and continue to encounter) has helped to prepare me to meet you right where you are. Through counseling, coaching, and sharing tools with you I hope to assist you through the challenges you are facing in this moment. I welcome the opportunity to work together. Gather information as you peruse this site and please do not hesitate to email or text me with any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!
